Swell Advisory #07

A southerly swell advisory is now in force for Christmas Island.

A northeast swell advisory remains in force for Washington and Fanning.

The public is advised to take precautions to minimize threats.

Gusty winds advisory #39:

A gusty winds advisory remains in force for the Northern Line islands including the Phoenix group. The public is advised to take precautions to reduce possible impacts.

The weather forecast issued at 0505am Wednesday 08th May 2024 and valid until 6pm for the Phoenix group and the Northern Line Islands.                                     

Situation:   The inter- tropical convergence zone is now slowly moving northwestward away from Washington and Fanning. Meanwhile bands of clouds lie southeast of the Phoenix group, moving westward and will affect the Phoenix islands located south of Kanton. 

Northern Line Group:

Light to moderate easterly winds of 04-15kts and fresh at times.

Slight to moderate seas.

For Washington:

Today: Sunny apart from morning light showers.

Tonight: Fine apart from brief showers.

Fanning:

Today: Sunny apart from morning isolated brief showers.

Tonight: Fine becoming cloudy later with brief showers.

For Christmas:

Today: Mostly sunny.

Tonight: Fine apart from brief showers later tonight.

Kanton:

Light to moderate northeasterly winds of 04-15kts and fresh at times.

Slight to moderate seas.

Today: Sunny.
