A gusty wind advisory remains in force over the Kiribati group and Banaba. The public should take precautions to minimize threats.

The weather forecast for the Kiribati group and Banaba was issued at 0440pm Monday 09^th September 2024 and valid until 6 am.

Situation: The Intertropical convergence zone remains slow-moving far north of the Northern Islands. Meanwhile a weak trough of low pressure is developing south and is expected to affect the Kiribati group from later tonight.

Kiribati group:

Gentle to moderate southeasterly winds of 06-16kt. Fresh at times.

Moderate seas.

For Makin and Butaritari:

Tonight: Partly cloudy with isolated brief showers.

Tomorrow: Cloudy with isolated brief showers mostly in the afternoon.

For Marakei, Abaiang, Tarawa and Maiana:

Tonight: Fine, becoming cloudy later in the evening.

Tomorrow: Cloudy with isolated light showers mostly in the afternoon.
