A gusty winds advisory remained in force for the Kiribati group. The public is advised to take precautions to reduce possible threats.

The weather forecast for the Kiribati group and Banaba issued at 0600pm Tuesday 05^th May, 2026 and valid until 6 am.

Situation: A trough of low pressure lies west of the northern islands and associated clouds affect most parts of the northern and central islands. Meanwhile another weak trough of low pressure situated south of the southern islands affect parts of the islands.

Kiribati group and Banaba:

Gentle to moderate easterly to south-easterly winds of 06-16kt. Fresh at times.

Moderate seas.

For Makin and Butaritari:

Tonight: Cloudy light showers and heavy at times.

Tomorrow: Occasional showers.

For Marakei, Abaiang, Tarawa and Maiana:

Tonight: Cloudy with moderate showers.

Tomorrow: Cloudy with isolated moderate showers.

 For Kuria, Aranuka and Abemama:

Tonight: Cloudy with light to moderate showers. 

Tomorrow: Partly cloudy with light to moderate showers.

For Nonouti, Tabiteuea, Beru and Nikunau:

Tonight: Cloudy with light to moderate showers

Tomorrow: Cloudy with isolated light showers and moderate at times.
